About the presentation: Although Fromm wrote “The Heart of Man: It’s Genius for Good and Evil”  more than sixty years ago, I believe it is as relevant today as it was then. In this book, Fromm challenges us to live according to the values we profess: “Indeed, we must become aware in order to choose the good-but no awareness will help us if we have lost the capacity to be moved by the distress of another human being, by the friendly gaze of another person, by  the song of a bird, by the greenness of grass.” (Fromm, 1964, p.150). In this presentation I highlight Fromm’s contribution to my thinking as a clinician, citizen, human being.
